oLess than a year ago, I signed a contract with Affirm Press to publish my debut novel, All the Bees in the Hollows. At times it feels like not much is happening in the publishing world and then all of a sudden: Bam! Everything happens at once. The hardest part about the process, is keeping all of the juicy details to myself until the right time.
I’ve been sitting on this for MANY months, but I am so thrilled to finally share the cover for All the Bees in the Hollows!
Drumroll….
Isn’t it beautiful?! I am so in love with it. It has the ‘old world’ charm, mystery and intrigue that reflects the story perfectly. complete with beautiful gold foil. I can’t wait to receive my own author copies of the book.
And here is the blurb prepared by Affirm Press:
Bees choose their masters. Bees don't sting good people.
Marytè is a devoted beekeeper. She lives by the old rules: work with fellow beekeepers, be a good Christian and a good harvest will follow. These rules help her cope with her grief when she inherits her husband's tree hollows. But as harsh conditions and tax increases threaten the harvest, Marytè begins to question her faith, her community and her own sanity.
There is little help to be had from her eldest daughter. Austėja is no worker bee. She takes risks, speaks her mind and dreams of escaping their isolated community. As her mother works, she finds refuge in the ancient forest and the old beliefs instilled in her by her defiant grandmother.
When Austėja discovers the mutilated body of the Hollow Watcher and uncovers a honeycomb of lies and betrayal, she is intent on finding the truth and protecting her family. Will mother and daughter overcome their differences, learn the truth behind the murder and complete the honey harvest?
I am both thrilled and honoured to have this wonderful endorsement and cover quote from Australian Author, Inga Simpson:
“Beautifully written, atmospheric and compelling” - Inga Simpson, author of The Thinning (October, 2024)

Coming up on Trust the Process
Now, I promised this newsletter wasn’t going to be all about me! So I want to update you on what is coming up on Trust the Process:
Monthly interviews with writers on the writing process. The first series will focus on psychologists and therapists who have published a book, examining the writing process, the overlap between creativity and psychology, and how they juggle writing with their jobs.
October: I will introduce you to Ariane Beeston, a former child protection caseworker & psychologist who has written the beautiful, compelling memoir Because I Am Not Myself, You See.
November: I will launch the first live Trust the Process interview, where you can join me in-conversation (online) with psychologist & author Georgia Harper. More on that soon!
That’s it from me this month!
See you in October x
Congratulations! Your cover is lovely.
