What is the attachment style of your fictional character?
A long overdue update + publishing highlights (I won a prize!). Podcast interviews with psychologists incoming...
When I had the grand idea of creating Trust the Process, a podcast interview series where I pick the brain of published authors who are also therapists, it was around the time my debut novel All the Bees in the Hollows was published. That was just over six months ago, and it has been a whirlwind since!
I seriously underestimated the emotional and mental energy that would go into launching a book into the world at the same time as responding to editorial feedback on my second book- not to mention juggling work and parenting responsibilities (and the LONGEST summer school holiday break ever!). It’s taken some time to find my feet. But, here I am!
One very exciting thing that happened is that my book WON an award! All the Bees in the Hollows won the Indie Book Awards for Debut Fiction, which is quite the pinch-me moment.
With book 2 sitting with the publisher awaiting further feedback, and book 3 underway (!) I’m excited to continue with the psychology interview series. From May I will be dropping monthly podcast interviews that you can listen to in your own time.
The first one will be the live interview that I recorded with Psychologist & Author Georgia Harper back in November 2024. This was such a well received interview, which prompted really interesting questions from the audience. I know there were many of you who weren’t able to attend on the night and have been eagerly awaiting the recording. Thank you for your patience!
Fictional Characters & Attachment Theory
In the meantime, if you’re interested in learning about how my perinatal psychology background influences and shapes the way that I write characters, have a listen to this podcast interview I did with Pamela Cook from Writes 4 Women. I also talk about my 15-year journey to getting published. You can listen to it here.
Writing Mothers & Daughters
I also prepared this written piece on writing mother-daughter relationships for Ramona Magazine.
I’ll be back in your inbox in mid-May to share Georgia’s interview.
That’s it from me this month.

P.s- Are you here because you signed up for Therapist Writing Circle updates? I plan to bring back this gentle writing group for therapists who write - with a slightly different format. If you’re interested in joining, please reach out. I’d love to hear what kind of writing support you seek.
